Community Begins at the Library
Stop by and enjoy the quilts by Fernandina Beach's Ruth Carden. This amazing 95-year-old creates art quilts inspired by her favorite artist, Jackson Pollock, while working in her home studio.
Counter roles, has 3 shifts of at least 2 volunteers on each sale day
Register when prompted by selecting matching ticket type for your shift.
Shift 1: 9:15am-12pm
Shift 2: 12pm-2:30pm
Shift 3: 2:30pm-5pm (for Wed, Nov 5 there is only a 3:30-7pm shift)
***this counter role is seated. Prior to checkout, this volunteer counts a buyer’s purchases and writes # purchased by type of item to a pre-printed sheet
Greeter role has 3 shifts of at least 2 volunteers on each sale day
Shift 1: 9:20am-12pm
Shift 2: 12pm-2:30pm (shift ends at 1pm on Sat)
Shift 3: 2:30-5pm (no shift 3 on Sat.)(Board members will cover Wednesday)
***this role is seated at entrance lobby of sale to greet shoppers each. Be familiar with FOL membership to answer questions. Hand out location maps for sale items and emphasize prices can be found on reverse side. Encourage joining/becoming FOL member. Collect and secure membership dues and completed membership brochures containing member information. Hand out library materials/pamphlets provided by library staff and FOL board. Transition to next shift when new shift volunteers arrive. At end of each day, turn in donations and completed membership brochures to treasurer. Member-only Preview volunteers on Wed will have additional job duties.
Merchandiser role has up to 3 shifts on each sale day
Shift 3: 2:30pm-5pm (for Wed, Nov 5 there is only a 3:45-7pm shift)
***This role is standing only, the “Merchandiser” role organizes books on the tabletops & assists shoppers in finding books & escorts shoppers outside with rolling cart of large volume purchases and waits while buyer relocates car to sale entrance to make loading purchase easier.
Cashier roles, has 3 shifts of at least 2 volunteers on each sale day
Shift 3: 2:30pm-5pm (for Wednesday there is only a 3:30-7pm shift)
Shift 3: 2:30pm-5pm (for Wednesday there is only a 3:45-7pm shift)
*** to Register another person for this shift (a guest), you have the ability to either finish your registration, or you can choose to register a guest. Stop by the library to experience our newest exhibition, Second Chapters. This exciting show will bring together the art of three unique artists, each of whom mastered their creative skills after fulfilling impressive professional careers. Karen Atkins, glass mosaic artist, Pat Haley, painter, and Carla Yetter, photographer, all call Amelia Island home, but they draw from their distinct backgrounds, interests and experiences to fuel their artistic approaches. Visitors will be treated to bold colors, skilled craftsmanship and creative execution, and may even come away empowered to embark on their own second chapters.
