Advocacy Committee member functions:
○ Attend and speak briefly at city and county commission meetings to highlight the importance of public libraries to the community and thank elected officials for their support
○ Meet with new commissioners to explain the role and activities of Friends of the Library
○ Meet with state government officials representing Nassau County to communicate the importance of state funding and support to the library
○ Address community groups in support of new services and upcoming events such as National Library Week, Black History Month, Library Card Sign Up Month
○ Attend meetings of other organizations (Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club, etc) to promote library services or upcoming events
Time commitment: Quarterly meetings of the Committee and other participation in committee activities as chosen.
