The National African American Read-In was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month.

Join our host, Marsha Dean Phelts, author of An American Beach for African Americans, for an inspiring evening. Bring a 2-3 minute reading from any material written by an African American, if interested in participating. Participation is encouraged, but not required.
