The Friends of the Fernandina Beach Library (FOL) would like to thank our wonderful community for making the November 2025 Library Book Sale a huge success. Not only did we renew our friendships with past book sale patrons, but we also made new friends with those who attended for the first time. Thanks to your generosity and love of books, we raised over $18,000 for our library.

The FOL is a totally volunteer driven organization dedicated to supporting the Fernandina Beach Public Library. Our bi-annual Book Sales are both a community event and a community effort. Thank you to everyone who donated books. Thank you to all the tireless volunteers who worked to make it possible. And thank you to all our book-loving buyers.

Months before the sale, a dedicated group of book sorters worked twice a week organizing book donations into more than 70 categories. The first day of the sale volunteers arrived at the Peck Center gym at 7 a.m. to set up tables and move almost 900 thirty-pound boxes from the sorting room.

Then, more volunteers added the finishing touches before the sale opened at 5pm on Wednesday with our Members’ Preview. Over the next three days, FOL board members, FOL members and community volunteers worked in shifts to help sell thousands of items - greeting patrons at the entrance, helping customers locate books, keeping the categories organized and tidy, tallying up purchases, and in some cases, even carrying them to your car.

Many returned on Saturday after the sale closed to help break down the sales floor and return the Peck Gym to normal. We simply could not have accomplished this without the wonderful willing volunteers who gave their time, energy and spirit to this event.

We also want to thank the Fernandina Beach News-Leader for the promotional advertising, the local businesses who posted the book sale flyers, and the many friends on social media who helped us get the word out.

And a special thanks to the Fernandina Beach Parks and Recreation and Peck gym staff who have worked with us throughout the year to make this and all our sales possible.

But most of all we thank you the community - we could not do it without you.

So, enjoy your “new” books and get ready for the next FOL Book Sale which will be March 11-14, 2026.
