whose mission is to promote literacy and lifelong learning in our community through programs, advocacy and fundraising for the Fernandina Beach Library.
Activities that help us accomplish our mission include the annual Story Telling Slam and the used Book Sale held each spring and fall. We also host guest speakers, provide educational programs, arrange outings to nearby places of interest, hold events and assist at Amelia Island events that benefit the library such as the Shrimp Festival parking and the Holiday “cookie tour” of Bed & Breakfasts.
Many needs of the community are met at the Library: computer services, socialization opportunities, magazines, books, story time for children and assistance and guidance with research projects. Truly, Libraries are very essential components of a community.

When you are growing up, there are two institutional places that affect you most powerfully – the church, which belongs to God, and the public library, which belongs to you. The public library is a great equalizer.
The more you read. The more things you will know. The more that you learn. The more places you’ll go.

Without words, without writing, and without books, there would be no history, there could be no concept of reality.
Books are a uniquely portable magic.
The three most important documents a free society gives are a birth certificate, a passport, and a library card.
(A library) isn’t just a library. It is a spaceship that will take you to the farthest reaches of the universe… and most of all, a gateway, to a better and happier and more useful life.
Libraries are the hart of every community, keeping our minds and spirits alive.
Without libraries, what have we? We have no past and no future.
Information is the currency of democracy.
